Add your voice to the call for accessible, equitable child care. Call the Governor today at 518-474-8390, press 3, then 1 to leave a message. Here’s the message:
“I am a (parent/provider/community leader) from (your town) calling to urge Governor Hochul to sign two pieces of child care legislation that will give parents more predictability and children more consistency.
Please sign A.7661/S.6077-A. This legislation will give parents who receive child care assistance the same flexibility on when they drop off and pick up their children from care as other parents. Children’s learning shouldn’t be interrupted by work schedules.
Please sign A.10209/S.9029. This legislation will give counties and social service districts the option to offer 24 months of child care assistance instead of 12 months. That means more predictability for parents and less administrative cost to local government.”
Send a message to Governor Hochul and state legislators that young students need education, not exclusion. New York should adopt proven methods that hold students accountable for their actions and offer them social-emotional supports while keeping them in the classroom. Let’s get teachers and schools the resources they need to keep students learning. We need solutions, not suspensions!
