Rochester advocates push for increased mental health funding in schools

Advocates in Rochester are pressing the city school district to allocate more budget funding for enhanced mental health support for struggling students.
The Children’s Agenda, a local advocacy group, has emphasized the importance of addressing mental health, school climate, discipline, and transportation.
“Each of these topics has a direct impact on students’ performance at school,” said Eamonn Scanlon of The Children’s Agenda. “When children are not present physically or preoccupied emotionally or mentally, they are falling behind.”
Advocates are calling for these enhancements to be made before the school district budget vote.
