Monroe County, N.Y. — A progress report on efforts to improve the emotional health of children in the area.
A parents’ poll that was released by the Children’s Agenda on Wednesday shows 40% say their children have struggled with emotional or mental health since returning to school in-person.
Only 25% said their child is receiving some type of counselling, and 89% cite multiple barriers to getting needed help.
“Movements like this, data like this- definitely supports kids and getting them what they need when they need it, not later down the line,” said Tianna Johnson, a member of the Very Invested Parents Advocacy Group. “I’m definitely pushing to make sure that my kids as well as all the community kids don’t have to lose that time during those key developmental years for development, that they can get what they need to they can be the best people that they can be.”
